It has become an ITSPmagazine tradition to start our RSA Conference coverage with what we call Chats On The Road To RSA Conference. We connect with conference speakers, presenters, panelists and organizers to start the conversation way before anyone else does.
During these conversations, we get a sneak peek into what they are planning to share at the conference as well as a glimpse into their backgrounds and some additional insight on the topics they will discuss.
ITSPmagazine coverage, podcasts, webcasts, articles, and all our happenings during RSA Conference 2019 will be made possible by the generosity of our sponsors. We are ever so grateful for your support.
Have a story to share and want to join us for the journey? We invite you to discover the benefit of the full coverage sponsorship and let us know if you are interested in joining us for our adventures. We look forward to another exciting conference.
Mental health continues to be a topic we care deeply about at ITSPmagazine and I was thrilled to have had a chance meeting with Ryan Louie during the recent Data Privacy Day event in San Francisco. Why? Because Ryan is doing a ton of work for mental health and, more specifically, is leading an interactive session on this very topic during RSA Conference 2019.
Mental Health in Cybersecurity:
Preventing Burnout, Building Resilience
Thursday, Mar 07 | 09:20 A.M. - 11:20 A.M.
Mental health is a key element in the human factor, and directly impacts the way in which cybersecurity professionals function in their daily work. This session will cover the psychosocial stressors unique to cybersecurity, discuss burnout and identify management mechanisms. Attendees will learn how to build the foundations for mental resilience, for use in their workplace.
Learning Objectives:
1: Identify and recognize the mental stress elements unique to the cybersecurity profession.
2: Learn how to identify burnout, and understand the manifestations and impact of burnout.
3: Learn about mental resilience, and how to build a resilience framework for the workplace.
In today’s chat on the road to RSA Conference, Selena and I connect with Ryan Louie. Ryan is a board-certified Psychiatrist focusing on the psychiatry of entrepreneurship and the mental health impact of cybersecurity. During our conversation, Ryan describes how his session provides a safe on-site environment for people to learn about mental health in cybersecurity — giving attendees the tools and knowledge to identify, discuss and deal with stress, fatigue, depression and more.
Ryan also speaks about his session setting the stage for ongoing conversations beyond the conference itself, giving individuals, their peers, their managers and the HR teams that support them a safe way to continue the work toward a mentally healthy individual and workforce.
As you’re listening to our chat with Ryan, be sure to register for RSA Conference and reserve a seat for his session — we suspect that you’ll be happy you did.
